As a part of Cheque Truncation System, the Reserve Bank Of India has mandated that only CTS-2010 standard multicity order cheques are to be issued to customers. As per RBI directive, all banks have to issue online alerts for all types of transactions, irrespective of the amount, involving usage of cards. Hence SMS alerts will be sent to the mobile number of customers registered with the Bank and a nominal charge of Rs.25/-plus Service Tax per quarter will be charged from the quarter ending 30th September 2013 towards SMS alerts, involving usage of cards, except in No-Frill Accounts.

Instances of transfer of money from NRI customer's accounts based on email instructions received from the customers have been reported by the branches which subsequently turned out to be fraud. It is observed that customers emails have been hacked and fraudulent transfer of funds were made by the hackers.In order to protect the depositor's money and also to prevent frauds, the facility of transfer of funds based on email instructions has been stopped.

As mandated by RBI, a new series of cheque leaves compliant with CTS-2010 standards shall come into effect from August 01, 2013. Our bank has been issuing these new series cheque books commencing from 01/10/2011.The old cheque leaves issued prior to this date may kindly be destroyed.
